Quilt-a-thon Complete!

Whew. At least the past weekend and week felt like a quilt-a-thon. I knew I needed to get my Madrona Road challenge quilt completely quilted before the weekend was over. Of course throw in a sew-in (which I couldn't quilt at), yoga, cooking, laying around on the couch, and you don't have many hours left!

But after 14 or so hours of quilting she was finished! And who's bright idea was it to do zig-zaggy lines? Sometimes I think I need a quilt fairy to remind me of what I can do. But when I have a idea in my head I don't want to do anything but it. Every have that happen to you?

I am very happy with how this quilt turned out. Everything is how I envisioned other than the straight line quilting. I wanted to work on my Free Motion skills. But lets be honest here, a twin size quilt is probably not the best practice size!

But after I made up my mind with the new direction I'm just as happy! I do have a few small things coming up before I start my next quilt. Maybe some free motion then?

What's coming my way? Well I need to make a couple of small crafty gifts (don't worry I didn't forget about you!), foundation paper piecing blocks, a logo/header for a friend (so behind, sorry Lucinda!), and then I'm thinking an Amy Butler scrappy trip around the world quilt.

I have a bunch of fat quarters of hers but they don't go with the rest of my fabric. But they all play nice together. We will see :) Happy weekend!

  5. Wow Jenn! This is amazing. High five for hanging in there--from an outside perspective, it looks totally worth it! That much white space would scare the crud out of me--I'd never know what to do with it. But this is inspiring!

  6. It looks fab! I just bit the bullet and realised my mahusive Winterkist quilt wasn't going to be quilted on my machine, 10" throat or not, it will have to be longarmed, so I need to learn that first ;o)
